New Issue of Generations Journal Features Research from the NYRDRC
The Fall 2025 issue of Generations Journal, “Transformative Approaches to Social Security Benefits,” features groundbreaking research from the New York Retirement and Disability Research Center (NYRDRC) – work completed just before the federal termination of the Retirement and Disability Research Center program.
Edited by Teresa Ghilarducci, Ruth Finkelstein, and Na Yin, this issue serves both as a monument to independent inquiry and a call to action to protect the integrity of social science research. The articles address urgent questions about who is left behind by Social Security, the fragility of the care workforce, barriers to benefits for marginalized populations, and the emerging risks of climate change and student debt for older workers. The issue features work by SCEPA researchers Jessica Forden, Karthik Manickam, and Siavash Radpour as well as our Director, Teresa Ghilarducci.
At a time when independent research is increasingly constrained, this collection demonstrates the enduring value of rigorous, policy-relevant scholarship. We invite policymakers, practitioners, and scholars to read and share this critical work.
